South Parlor Suite
The South Parlor Suite has fantastic original details and a
particularly rich history. It was the formal parlor and home
to many formal and happy events over the years. The
Victorian frieze paper, the ceiling paper, and the wood
moldings, are all original and well preserved. The
chandelier is the original old kerosene fixture that has
been converted for electric use. Over the fireplace hangs an
original oil painting of pink roses (which are still growing
on the property) that was painted by Fannie Baucus Sherman,
the daughter of Senator Baucus.
A very romantic table for two sits in the bay window nook
looking out to the front yard. This parlor has particularly
stunning views. Comprising the south end of the first floor,
the suite offers views of the gazebo and garden to the south
and the hay and corn fields to the west.
The suite has two wonderful full size velvet couches facing
each other before the fireplace providing the perfect place
to converse or just lounge and read a book. They beckon you
to kick off your shoes and relax.
A private bedroom has a queen sized pillow-top mattress,
high thread count cotton bedding, soft hypoallergenic
comforters and pillows. In the private bath there are custom
handmade soaps, lotions, shampoos and conditioners made from
fresh botanicals and herbs. Comfortable robes are provided
to change into after a shower.

North (Piano) Parlor Suite
This parlor is highlighted by the
beautiful 1903 Fischer & Sons Grand Piano in the bay window
nook looking onto the front yard. The striking red patterned
wallpaper is a hand screened reproduction of Victorian
wallpaper of the era. There are wonderful views of the front
yard and barn from the living area and of the back fields
from the bedroom and bath.
This suite has a wonderful full size velvet couch and
over-sized chair with ottoman set before the original marble
fireplace. They provide the perfect place to converse or
just lounge and read a book. Artwork by Fannie Baucus
Sherman, the daughter of Senator Baucus, hangs above the
marble fireplace and features yellow roses still growing on
the inn’s property.
A private bedroom has a magnificent carved sleigh bed with
queen sized pillow-top mattress, high thread count cotton
bedding, and soft hypoallergenic comforters and pillows. The
closet is a door into the past with antique Victorian
wallpapers laid out in the patterns that originally adorned
the room. In the private bath there are custom handmade
soaps, lotions, shampoos and conditioners made from fresh
botanicals and herbs, and comfortable robes to change into
after a bath or shower.

The Upstairs Rooms—The Gallery
Up the stairs from the main entrance is one of the most
beautiful and historic areas of the home—the upstairs
Gallery. Off the private Gallery are two beautiful guest
rooms and a large bath. The upstairs rooms are favorites for
couples traveling together.
The woodwork, ceiling papers and frieze papers are original
and outstanding. The grain painted woodwork is original to
the house and wonderfully preserved. Vintage photographs of
our ancestors hang in the Gallery. Off the private Gallery
are the beautiful Tulip and Lilac rooms and a large bath. A
table for four sits in the window nook. It is surrounded by
four carved chairs that Senator Baucus purchased to
originally furnish the home in 1862. The original bill of
sale and the actual check used to make the purchase are on
display.

the original frieze papers remain in extraordinary
condition. Windows open to the south and the east. This room
offers the best sunrise view at the inn. Massive maple tree
out front shade the room as the dawn creeps over the barn
and the cornfields.
The queen sized pillow-top mattress is outfitted with high
thread count cotton bedding and soft hypoallergenic
comforters and pillows ensuring a good night’s sleep. In the
bath there are custom handmade soaps, lotions, shampoos and
conditioners made from fresh botanicals and herbs, and
comfortable robes to change into after a shower.
